Day 33: Friday (its now sunday)

Right, I've got a lot to catch up on!
I'm currently getting mauled by the kitten as my jacket has dangly bits so this may take some time as he's so cute and distracting.
On Friday I went to the restaurant with lots of bags so that I could get picked up straight from work.  One of the other managers told me not to take things Tan says too personally, which was quite sweet.  he also gave me my pay cheque!  I hope none of you think I'm taking it that seriously either.  I can see that she gets stressed and I can see she is like this with everyone so its definitely not personal.  It was just nice to have a whinge and get things off my chest.  I'm sure everything will be fine.  I'm still dreading having to be on my feet all day on Monday though!  and really not happy that I'll be working next Sunday.  it means two weeks straight through without a day off!
Patrick and his son Van came to collect me from work.  We went to pick up his daughter from school popped to the shops then to his house to wait for his friends who would be doing the driving.  Going to the shops hungry is never a good idea and I bought a nice healthy banana and a nice unhealthy slab of cake!  Rob would be running the race with Patrick, and Rob's wife Rhonda would be supporting.  We compared training and race strategies and generally chatted nonsense on the two hour drive up to St. Paul.  All I knew was that I would be staying with someone on the race committee and that I'd meet them at registration.  Sure enough I was introduced to Pierre and then his wife Joanne, who were amazingly generous and accommodating.  Joanne had cooked a delicious stew and Pierre gave me a pre-race beer and a bowl of ice cream with maple syrup.  It was lovely talking to them.
I was very happy to be there and settled into the idea that it would be a wonderful experience even if I didn't finish, given my lack of training, potential injury, etc.
Early start in the morning!
