Day36: Manic Monday

I was starting work at 9:30 at the restaurant, then 4-9:30pm at the shop.  I was dreading being on my feet all day, but actually it wasn't too bad, and probably helped.  I also got away with wearing flats, which was a relief.
The most experienced hostess was off work for a week, so it was a slightly nervous morning without her guidance, but luckily it wasn't too busy (by Lazia standards) and I think we pulled it off.  I even got to make a couple of coffees and a dessert.  I ate half of my chicken and cashew nut and boxed the rest up to eat later for dinner but I had finished work at 1:30 so I had a bit of time to kill.  I wondered over to the bank to see if I could pay in my salary cheque at the ATM machine (I can't it seems) and somebody noticed my bag and started chatting to me!  I was using my Iron Horse Ultra race kit bag for my work clothes and shoes (as well as wearing the medal as a necklace - if it was colder I'd be wearing the hat as well).  After a morning spent with non-runners not really able to bask in the ultramarathon glory, it was great to bump into someone else who was there.  I think I'd met him briefly right near the beginning of the route while we were still in St. Paul.
I got to work early enough to rummage around the sale area and bought myself some tights, a t-shirt and some socks as I'd forgotten to bring any with me.  This time I was greeted with congratulations and was encouraged to tell the story.  I love working with runners!
I was a bit tired and not with it, at one point showing a guy the women's shoes, but managed to keep myself busy and even helped close the tills.
I popped into the shops on the way home, which was a mistake as I bought a tub of ice cream then ate it all.  ooops.  I can't even claim it was tourism as it was Ben and Jerry's, the same as back home.
9:30am start tomorrow too!
